HITCH REQUIREMENTS

• Reese-style hitch required.
• Maximum hitch height: 24 inches from the ground, measured before, during, and after the pull.
• The hook point may be no closer than 44 inches to the centerline of the rear axle.
• The hooking point will be measured from the centerline of the rear axle to the point where the sled hook contacts the clevis.
• The hitch must be frame-mounted.
• Hitch reinforcements may not extend forward of the centerline of the rear axle or attach to the rear axle housing.
• The hitch and/or pivot point may be no more than 2 inches above the top of the frame rail.
• The pivot pin of the drawbar may be no farther forward than the centerline of the rear axle.
• The hitch must remain horizontal to the ground and stationary in all directions.
• The hitch must not exceed a maximum 25-degree angle from the pivot point to the hook point.
• No hitch supports or adjusters may be fastened to the rear axle housing above the top line of the axle tube housing.
• Trick hitches are prohibited.
• The hooking point must have a minimum 3.750-inch inside diameter opening to accommodate the sled hook.
• Bumpers may be notched or removed.

SUSPENSION REQUIREMENTS

• All vehicles must retain OEM working suspension on both the front and rear.
• Zero suspension travel is prohibited.
• The suspension must have measurable play and movement.
• It can be sitting solidly on leaf springs, but when lifted from the rear bumper, it must have moved upward.
• Solid rear-end welded stops are prohibited.
• All rear axle reinforcements must be removable and may not be permanently attached.
• Bolt-on traction bars are permitted.

ENGINE AND POWER ADDERS

• No limit on power adders.
• Vehicles must retain the factory drivetrain configuration appropriate to the vehicle. Factory drivetrain is defined as the original manufacturer drivetrain for 1-ton and smaller vehicles.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

• Exhaust must exit upward. 90 degree turn ups on all rear exit exhausts.
• 1/2 inch cross bolts are required within 2 inches of exhaust flange.
• A functional kill switch is required and must be located within 12 inches of the hook point. The kill switch must be verified and approved during technical inspection.
• All visible U-joints must be properly shielded.
• Driveshaft loops front and rear are required. 
• Fire extinguisher in cab or fire suppression system installed.

GENERAL

All vehicles are subject to technical inspection and must comply with all class rules prior to competing. The event officials reserve the right to determine compliance with these rules and to disqualify any vehicle that does not meet the requirements of the class.

 

S400 SINGLE STREET TRUCK CLASS

(FUEL ONLY - NO NITROUS)

Maximum Weight: 8,000 lbs. (including driver)
Drive Type: Two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive permitted.
Registration: Valid DOT registration, insurance, and license plates required.Vehicle Type: Full-bodied diesel pickup truck designed and equipped for regular street use.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

• The vehicle must be a full-bodied diesel pickup truck intended for regular on-road use.
• Tires: DOT-approved tires required
• Valid DOT registration, insurance, and license plates are mandatory.
• All drivers must have a valid state driver's license.
• All vehicles are subject to technical inspection and must comply with all class rules prior to competing.

BALLAST

• Ballast is permitted.
• Hanging front weights are prohibited.
• Ballast may be added to the bed of the truck and must be securely fastened.
• Final decisions regarding ballast placement and security rest with the Technical Department.

BATTERIES

• Batteries must be securely mounted.
• Batteries may not be located in the driver's compartment or forward of the radiator core support.

BODY

• The OEM truck body is mandatory, including the complete OEM bed floor.
• The body must retain the full OEM sheet metal.
• Metal aftermarket hoods are permitted.
• Fiberglass body panels are prohibited.
• The hood must be closed and securely latched while the vehicle is hooked to the sled.
• The complete OEM firewall and OEM floor pan are mandatory.
• Truck must be full interior.

BRAKES

• Four-wheel hydraulic brakes are mandatory.

CHASSIS

• The OEM chassis is mandatory.
• The engine must remain in the OEM location for the body being used.
• The vehicle must retain the complete OEM chassis.
• Wheel tubs, back-half conversions, tube chassis, and similar chassis modifications are prohibited.

COOLING SYSTEM

• The radiator must remain in the stock location.
• The radiator must be at least stock size.
• No aftermarket air to water intercoolers. 
• Air to air intercoolers.

CREDENTIALS

• All drivers must possess a valid state driver's license.

DRIVELINE

• An OEM transmission and transfer case are mandatory.
• The transmission and transfer case must have been an available option in a one-ton or smaller pickup.
• Driveshaft loops recommended front and rear. 

DRIVER RESTRAINT/ INTERIOR

• The OEM driver restraint system is mandatory and must be worn while competing.
• Vehicle must retain full factory interior including seats, door panels, dash, etc.

ENGINE AND POWER ADDERS

• The vehicle must retain an OEM make-specific compression ignition engine.
• The engine must remain in the OEM location for the body being used.
• Truck must have a single s400 sized turbo. No other turbo options allowed. 
• Nitrous oxide, propane injection, and other oxygen-extending power additives are prohibited.
• Any prohibited power-adder system and all associated components must be completely removed from the vehicle.
• No water-meth injection allowed.

EXHAUST

• All upward-facing exhaust outlets must have a minimum of 3/8-inch cross bolts installed within 2 inches of exhaust flange. 
• All rear exit exhausts will be required to have a 90 degree turn up. 

FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM

• A fire extinguisher is required inside if vehicle
• A fire extinguisher system is permitted.

FUEL

• Only pump #1 or #2 diesel fuel is permitted.
• Soy/biodiesel fuel is permitted.
• Off-road diesel fuel is prohibited.
• Nitrous oxide, propane, and other oxygen extenders are prohibited.
• All components associated with prohibited power-addition systems must be completely removed from the vehicle.

REAR END

• Non-OEM rear axle housings are prohibited.
• The rear axle housing must have been an available option in a one-ton or smaller pickup.

REAR SUSPENSION

• An OEM-style rear suspension is mandatory.
• Raising or lowering the vehicle's ride height through suspension modifications is permitted.
• Traction bars and traction devices are permitted and must be bolt-on.
• Welding is permitted for the attachment brackets of traction bars or traction devices to the frame or axle housing. Bars must be bolted to mounts, not welded.
• Bolt in bump stops.
• All OEM suspension mounting points must be retained and used.
• Sway bars, limit straps, and camper kits are permitted.
• The rear suspension must maintain a minimum of 1 inch of compression shock travel.
• Compression stops must be adjustable.
• Each rear wheel must have at least one functioning shock absorber.
• Airbag spring assistance is permitted; however, airbag compressors must be disconnected while competing.

HITCH REQUIREMENTS

• The hitch must be a Reese style hitch.
• Hitch reinforcements are permitted but must not extend forward of the centerline of the rear axle.
• Trick hitches are prohibited. The determination of what constitutes a trick hitch will be made by the Technical Official.
• The hooking point must be the rearmost point of the vehicle and must be rearward of the stock location of the tailgate.
• The hitch must remain horizontal to the ground and stationary in all directions.
• The bumper may be notched or removed.
• The maximum hitch height is 26 inches from the ground.
• The hooking point must have a minimum inside opening of 3 inches x 3-3/4 inches to accommodate the sled hook.
• The hooking point must be a minimum of 44 inches from the centerline of the rear axle.
• The hooking point will be measured from the centerline of the rear axle to the point where the sled hook contacts the metal of the hitch. The point where the sled hook contacts the metal is considered the hooking point.

 

CLASS ELIGIBILITY

• Vehicles with modifications that exceed the limits of the Street Class must compete in the Hot Street Class.
• A vehicle may not enter or compete in the Street Class by temporarily removing, disabling, concealing, or otherwise altering a power-adder or performance component that would otherwise place the vehicle in the Hot Street Class.
• Class eligibility will be determined by the vehicle's overall combination of modifications and equipment. The Technical Official or Technical Department shall have final determination regarding class eligibility.
